Attendee Services

To help make your conference experience a great one!

Information about additional services will be added to this page as it becomes available.

Accessibility & Mobility Assistance

PLA has put in place features to ensure the conference is accessible to all. These include, but are not limited to: captioning of the Opening Session, Closing Session, and Big Ideas Series; accessible sleeping rooms; ASL interpreters; and mobility assistance like scooters and wheelchairs. Please contact Melissa Faubel Johnson at mfaubel@ala.org no later than January 31, 2022, to reserve a scooter/wheelchair or to request an ASL interpreter. If you reserved a scooter, you can pick up your scooter at the special assistance counter at registration.

Scooters and wheelchairs are permitted on the exhibit floor as long as they are in use at all times. Wheeled carts, however, are not permitted at any time. If you have a medical condition requiring you to use a cart, please bring a doctor's note to the special assistance counter in the registration area.

Appropriate Conduct

All participants are expected to observe the rules and behaviors described in the Statement of Appropriate Conduct in all conference venues, including online venues, and conference social events. The statement includes contact information to report incidents of harassment.

Career Center

Once again, we’re working on building a helpful and resourceful spot for job seekers, recruiting libraries, and advisors to connect at PLA Conference. The Career Center, in the Exhibits Hall, will have coordinated events at select times—including the Career Fair, Résumé Review, Interview Practice, and Mini-Mentoring—but will remain open during conference hours to enable job posting or impromptu interviews. Sign up now available for Résumé Review, Interview Practice, or the opportunity to receive career advice via a Mini-Mentoring session.

Is your library hiring? If you would like to host a table and connect with job seekers at the PLA 2022 Career Fair, please fill out the registration form. We will contact you with additional details. There is a $100 fee to host a table.

COVID-19 Health & Safety Information

The Public Library Association’s priority in all meetings and events decisions is the safety and welfare of our attendees, exhibitors, partners, and team. As infections and hospitalizations driven by the Omicron variant have recently declined, PLA understands that safety requirements from the State of Oregon and others are changing. To set and maintain expectations for conference attendees in advance of travel, the PLA 2022 requirements for masking and vaccination/negative test outlined on our COVID-19 Information page will remain in effect during the conference, even with the state mandate is lifted.

If you're not feeling well and think you might have COVID-19, we encourage you to get tested. If you need a last-minute test, the OCC has partnered with Curative, an essential health services provider, to offer both PCR and rapid antigen COVID-19 testing available via a mobile testing van conveniently located outside the OCC, at no cost. For more information about tests, appointments, and service hours, visit the OCC’s Testing Site page. The mobile testing van is open from Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 AM–2:30 PM Pacific. Walk-ups are welcome, but make an appointment by visiting the Curative website or calling 888-702-9042 to minimalize wait time.

If you have a positive test, please let us know at mfournier@ala.org. We also encourage you to stay in and rest up. You will have access to the Virtual Conference online during and after the conference.

PLA is continuously monitoring news and science around COVID-19 and its variants and will update plans and protocols as needed. Visit our COVID-19 Information page for the most current information.

CPLA Re-certification Hours

Are you a Certified Public Library Administrator®? Attend the full PLA 2022 Conference and receive 11 re-certification hours for the CPLA program.

First Aid/Medical Emergencies

The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) has two fully equipped first aid rooms, one located in the Exhibit Hall A Lobby and the other outside Exhibit Hall E.

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is on-site during events with attendance over 1,000 or when otherwise deemed appropriate for the safety of attendees. EMTs may be contacted by picking up any house phone and dialing “7575” or by alerting any OCC staff member.

The building also has multiple defibrillator stations (AEDs) located in public spaces for immediate response to a medical emergency.

Handouts

For programs: If presenters have uploaded handouts in advance of the conference, then you’ll find them attached to program detail pages. Go to Programs and click a program title to open its detail page. Handouts will also be attached to programs in the mobile app. If you don’t find handout links on a program's detail page, or attached to a program in the mobile app, this most likely means the presenter(s) didn’t upload handouts.

For preconferences: Sorry, but handouts for preconferences are not available to download.

Lactation Rooms

The Oregon Convention Center provides two Mamava nursing suites. These private and secure suites are located near the A and E Meeting Rooms on Level 1.

The suites are ADA-compatible with a comfortable seating area and are equipped with standard AC power outlets and USB charger ports.

Note: All Mamava suites come with a Bluetooth SmartLock that syncs with Mamava’s mobile app. Download the app at mamava.com/mobile-app.

You may also request a door code for entry from receptionists in the OCC Administration Office on Level 2 and by calling 503-235-7575.
