41st IAJGS International Conference
on Jewish Genealogy

The 41st Annual International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) Conference, happening in historic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will include everything you would want in an IAJGS conference and will be the perfect place to investigate early American ancestors. In this year of changes, the 2021 Conference, from August 2 through 5, 2021, has changed as well. It will be more focused over a shorter time frame—now four days and nights at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel. Judi Missel, our longstanding Conference Administrative Manager and 2019 IAJGS Volunteer of the Year, is the Lead Co-Chair. Fred Blum, serving as the Conference Local Co-Chair, represents the local community and is a past President of the Jewish Genealogical and Archival Society of Greater Philadelphia.

  • Registration Open for Virtual Conference (30 April 2021):

Everything is finally in place for us to meet virtually from August 1 through August 5, 2021. This will be a new virtual experience with live-streaming and pre-recorded sessions on all the proposed themes. There will be an Expo Hall for exhibitors and sponsors, a Resource Library for at-home research, and maybe even a game or two. For details, go to the Registration Overview page.

  • IAJGS 2021 Conference Goes All-Virtual (24 March 2021):

After considering all health concerns and travel restrictions, the IAJGS Board of Directors and the Conference Committee have decided that the 2021 IAJGS Conference will be an All-Virtual Conference. This decision obviously entails major changes—reorganizing the schedule and a restructuring of registration fees.

If you have already registered—either as an attendee or spouse—your money will be refunded, and you will have to register again for the Virtual Conference. Registration for the 2021 IAJGS Virtual Conference will be $250 and will open soon. Speakers will be notified separately.

Please be patient as we celebrate Passover and navigate the updates to the presentations and meetings. The basic format will be similar to last year, but since we’ve all had a year’s experience with virtual meetings, we hope to make things feel novel and more interesting. Possibilities are only limited by our imagination, so a virtual SHARE Fair, a digital planner, one-to-one mentoring, and maybe even Expert Breakfasts using Uber Eats are all possible! The Conference Committee is planning on being seriously creative and seeing what we can make happen. Check your email and these pages often as we keep you posted on new developments.

  • Registration Open (1 March 2021):

Early bird registration is now open and will continue until May 31, 2021. Due to social distancing restrictions ordered by the state, attendance at the Conference must be limited. Therefore, a Wait List will be created once we reach the registration limit. All meals and computer labs are being handled separately and will be available soon. We are continuing to consider and monitor all the health advisories to ensure that we have a safe conference. Please remember that we want everyone in our community to stay healthy. Any changes or updates will be posted as soon as possible.

To get started, please see the Registration Overview page.

  • A Word About Registration... (27 January 2021):

Early Bird Registration will open on March  1, 2021. For past conferences, Early Bird Registration opened in late January or early February. This is clearly not practical this year. Last year was a year like no other and one sadly we will never forget. And 2021 is shaping up to be another year forcing us to navigate difficult paths and decisions. Therefore, Early Bird Registration will continue being offered until May 31, 2021. In addition, no cancellation penalties will be charged at all. However, after July 1, 2021, which is just one month before the start of the Conference, there will be no refunds of any kind. The IAJGS Board and the 41st Annual Conference Committee will continue to monitor the health guidelines offered by the CDC to protect all, and we continue to appreciate your patience as we make the best determinations for this conference.

  • A Word About Virtual... (25 January 2021):

After the success of the all-virtual 2020 Conference, some sessions will again be offered virtually in 2021. While we anticipate an in-person conference, contingency plans are in place for any eventuality. The Conference is over six months away, and we are working with local health guidelines to continue evaluating our path. The health and safety of all registrants, sponsors, exhibitors, and staff is deeply important, and we appreciate your patience as we make the best determination for this conference.

  • UPCOMING DEVELOPMENTS (17 January 2021):

Registration will open on March 1. Early Bird full registration will be $350; Partner/Spouse Early Bird full registration will be $250. Information about hotel reservations will be coming soon. Watch for updates here and on Facebook.

  • SPEAKER ACCEPTANCES (17 January 2021):

Speaker acceptances have gone out, and the program is scheduled to go public by the end of February.
