The special pages created by the hotels for Conference reservations are often a bit confusing. To help you, here are some screen captures showing the process. (These were made using the Chrome browser in January 2020. There might be slight differences from browser to browser and time to time.)
Since we could not record all the steps without actually making and paying for a reservation, the information is not complete. Also, it is possible that we have missed or misunderstood something. If so, please send a report to the webmaster using the link at the very bottom of the page.
When the special page at hotel.iajgs2020.org opens, you will see what is shown to the right.
Click on “MAKE A RESERVATION” to start a new reservation or on “Manage Existing Reservation” if you are making a change.
We will deal here with new reservations.
You will now see the screen shown at the right.
There are two possible way to proceed. You can fill out the form in the right-hand part of the screen, but we recommend clicking on the word “HOTEL” in the low bar (where the red arrow is pointing).
You will now be on a page that shows the two types of rooms offered at the special Conference rate: rooms with one king bed and rooms with two queen beds.
In the area for the type of room you want to reserve, use the up and down triangles under “Rooms:” and “Guests:”, as needed, to change the numbers to meet your needs.
If you are reserving a room with two queen beds because you plan to find a roommate, you can book the room initially for single occupancy and then change the reservation later to add the additional person. [Note: for assistance in finding a roommate, write to firstname.lastname@example.org.]
If you are booking more than one room, you can similarly change the number in the “Rooms:” field.
Next, click on the date when you will arrive.
Finally—and this is tricky—click on the date of the last night of your stay (not the day on which you will depart).
The nights of your stay will turn green. When you are satisfied with your choice, click on the “SELECT” button (which appeared as soon as you selected an arrival date).
You will now see your selected reservation dates in a more readable calendar mode. The “Check-in” and “Checkout” dates are noted.
The form at the right has also been filled in automatically. It includes the number of nights and the total cost (before tax).
The reservation dates can be changed by clicking on the calendar.
(The other information, including the number of rooms and guests, can be changed in the form at the right by clicking on the “EDIT” button under “MAKE A RESERVATION”. You can also use the web browser’s back button to return to earlier screens.)
When you are satisfied, click on one of the “NEXT” buttons.
You will now be on the guest-information page. Fill in the required information, including the name(s) and email address(es) of the guests in the room.
Note that farther down on the page there is an area for entering your Marriott Bonvoy membership information.
When all the information has been entered, click on the NEXT button at the bottom of the screen. That will take you to the payment page.
