Minyan / Religious Services
Daily Minyan Services
As an official part of the conference, space is provided for daily minyan services. The conference accommodates minyan services but does not organize them. If you would like to attend such a service or you would like to help organize one, write to Elliot Greene at minyan@iajgs2019.org.
A traditional (Orthodox) service is already being organized. A Sefer Torah will be available for reading on Monday and Thursday. Shacharit (morning) services will be held each morning from Monday through Friday, and there will be Mincha (afternoon) and Maariv (evening) services each day from Sunday through Thursday.
Please let Elliot know if you would like to organize egalitarian minyan services.
Shabbat Services and Meals
The conference is not currently planning to organize services or meals for the Shabbat preceeding the Conference. See the next section for a possibility in the neighborhood of the hotel.
Chabad of Downtown Cleveland
The Chabad of Downtown Cleveland holds Shabbat morning services on Saturdays at 11:00 am followed by a Kiddush at 1421 Lindazzo Avenue, which is about 0.8 miles from the Hilton. (See HERE.)
For Shabbat, one can arrange to have Friday dinner and/or Saturday lunch. (See HERE.) Arrangements should be made at least two weeks in advance by calling 216-446-5111 or clicking HERE and writing a message. There is no charge for the meals, but a donation is requested (at least $36 is appropriate). We do not yet know how many people can be accommodated, and it is possible that a group arrangement will be organized through the Kosher SIG Facebook Group.
Note that there is no eruv (to allow carrying on Shabbat) in the downtown area.
