Designing Digital Learning: Are we on the right track?
How do we know that the eLearning experiences we are creating are done well? We use a checklist of course! This session will provide examples, tips and tricks on how to reach a “Best Practice” level for each of the four parts of the Canvas Course Evaluation Checklist in order to ensure that content is not only engaging but also accessible and designed with instructionally sound principles. We will also share how educators across the state have utilized the checklist and customized the rubric for their individual school/district needs. Please note that although this checklist was developed by Instructure, it can easily be applied to any digital learning environment as it built upon the principles of Universal Design for Learning and aligns with Quality Matters standards.

Designing Virtual Manipulatives with Google Slides*
Google Slides is more than a presentation tool. Many teachers have found that Slides makes a great workspace for students. Nearly all of the physical manipulatives you use in class can be transformed into a digital format, and when the physical options aren't available for students to use, particularly while they are home, this option enables them to continue practicing key skills in focus. In this session, you will learn how to develop virtual manipulatives that challenge students to demonstrate their understanding of key classroom concepts. PD that Succeeds: Voice and Choice in Professional Learning for Educators
Teachers design innovative lessons with choice and voice into their classrooms on a regular basis. However, professional learning for educators oftentimes does not look the same-many professional development sessions are "sit and get" PD with lectures, little interaction, and little input or choice from those on the receiving end. If this sounds similar to PD in your district-is it time to take out a mirror, reflect, and improve? In this session, attendees will learn how Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (Columbus IN) PD coordinators have redesigned PD to provide educators voice and choice in PD, resulting in transformed learning and increased participation district wide. By the end of the session, attendees will see examples of how BCSC utilized podcasts, blended learning, in person training, and virtual PD to provide staff with PD to help them succeed in the classroom.

Designing Digital Learning: Are we on the right track?

Coding and Robotics for Elementary and Middle School
During the session/workshop attendees will be introduced to code.org, Tynker, Spheros, and Kano Harry Potter Wands. We will explore the Sphero edu resources and how to set up classes. This will allow for teachers to be able to assign tasks and also for students to submit their completed tasks to their teacher. After an overview of these there will be time for hands on exploration. If attendees have an iPad then downloading the Kano app and on all devices the Sphero Edu app before the session would be great. A laptop would be useful for exploring code.org and Tynker.

Easy to Integrate Technology - Tools to Make Lessons More Creative and Engaging: Teacher Toolbox
With so many ways to implement technology into the classroom, it can be daunting to try and sort through it all. What resources are true “must-haves” for the everyday classroom? There are a number of programs, online resources, and digital tools that have proven to be mainstays for the teachers that implement them. Through a fun and engaging “Digital Breakout,” we will cover these game-changers and how to use them. Real examples of how these tools have already been implemented in the classroom will be shown. Attendees will then have the opportunity to create their own digital content specific to their curriculum. Ultimately, the goal of the session will be to walk away with new tools and new digital content to bring back to students.

“Cyber Security – Are We Prepared or are We the Next Victim?” Part II (Spotlight)
In Part II of Scott Augenbaum's session he is going to take a deeper dive into the world of Cybercrime and will address some of the biggest questions of the day: Ransomware: Should we pay or not and steps to take to prevent? Why being compliant (PCI, SOX, HIPAA) is not the same as being secure. Do you know who you should call if you have an incident or are you leaving it to chance? Are our employees trained to be the first line of defense or are they part of the problem? Where does a company start? Do I need Cyber liability insurance and how much? Will it pay if I am a victim? Make sure you bring your questions.
Be sure to catch Part I of this workshop as well!
