NPRO APPLICATION FORM

This form allows exhibitors to apply for New Products Rollout (NPRO) opportunities at ATSSA’s Annual Convention & Traffic Expo. The program is designed to maximize exposure for market-ready newly launched products through:

· NPRO Online Listings

· NPRO Floor Listing at the ATSSA Convention and Traffic Expo

· NPRO Tour Presentations for Public Agency Representatives

Eligibility & Entry Guideline

  • Only exhibiting companies may participate.
  • Each exhibitor may submit up to two (2) products.
  • Entered products must have been introduced to the market after Jan. 1, 2024.
  • A Video submission is required for each product.
  • Application Deadline: Nov. 1, 2025.

NPRO Informational Video Requirements
 

Each product entry must include a video that:

  • Is 1 to 2 minutes in length
  • Features high resolution video and high-quality audio
  • Is submitted in a downloadable MP4 format (or provide a link to the downloadable video)
  • Is submitted with the application
  • Will be used by DOT judges to help select the Innovation Award finalists
  • Highlights key attributes based on Innovation Award criteria, including (See “Evaluation Criteria” section below):
    • Product innovation and readiness
    • Safety impact and problem-solving capabilities
    • Design durability and regulatory compliance

New Products Rollout Online and Expo Floor Listings

The New Products Rollout Online and Expo Floor Listings provide extra exposure through:

Eligibility:
  • Must be an Exhibitor and
  • Market-ready products introduced after Jan. 1, 2024.

Entry fee per product: $200 ATSSA members/non-members.


New Products Rollout Tour

This tour allows participants to present their product directly to public agency representatives at their booth.

  • To be considered for an Innovation Award, participants must be enrolled in the New Products Rollout Tour.
  • ATSSA Innovation & Technical Services Team will notify participants of the schedule for booth visits prior to the Convention & Traffic Expo.

Tour entry fee per product: $200 ATSSA members/$2,000 non-members.

 

Innovation Awards
 

Recognizes:

  • One (1) Winner
  • Up to three (3) Honorable Mentions
Eligibility:
  • Must be entered in the NPRO Tour
  • Must be among the first 15 entries selected for the NPRO Tour
Judging Process:
  • A panel of department of transportation (DOT) judges will assess the product based on:
    • Submitted videos and details
    • Criteria shown in the “Evaluation Criteria” table below
  • Finalists may be invited to present their product at their booth during the Expo.
    • Each finalist will have 2 to 3 minutes per product for the judges’ follow-up questions
      • Prior to ATSSA’s Annual Convention & Traffic Expo, the ATSSA Innovation & Technical Services Team will coordinate with finalists to arrange a booth visit for judges to ask questions to aid in selecting the Innovation Award winner and Honorable Mentions.

Awardees Receive:

  • Extra exposure by presenting at an Innovation Award micro session held on the Traffic Expo floor
  • Their video played during the micro session
  • Press release announcing the Innovation Awards outcome through various ATSSA communications channels.

 

 

What are the Evaluation Criteria?

Evaluation Criteria

Provides an overall innovation for the roadway safety infrastructure industry

  • Is the product market ready? Can it be used immediately?
  • Is the product innovative, the first of its kind in the industry? (OR)
  • Does the product provide a dramatic improvement in functionality or roadway safety of an existing device?

Solves a current issue in the roadway safety infrastructure industry

  • Is this product a solution for a small niche issue found in the industry or is it an industry-wide solution applicable to many uses?
  • Are there multiple problems solved by using this product or is it a single solution for a single problem?

Has unique safety qualities

  • Will this product benefit road users and workers in making the nation’s roadways safer?
  • Does this product provide a solution to a specific need of local, state or federal agencies?
  • Does this product address a need identified by state or federal agencies, especially in Strategic Highway Safety Plans?

Innovativeness and applicability of the design

  • Has the product been designed to be durable enough to survive the rigors of road work?
  • Does it comply with local and national regulations to ensure it is “road ready”?
  • Does it function safely and effortlessly as designed?
