PA Scholarship Application


The #1 roadway safety infrastructure convention and expo is coming to Orlando, February 28- March 4, 2025. ATSSA is pleased to offer over 100 scholarships to public agency officials to attend the Annual Convention & Traffic Expo.

Here are just a few of the exciting changes you’ll see:

• All Committee & Council meetings take place on Saturday, March 1

• One full day of uninterrupted Education Sessions, Sunday, March 2, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

• Traffic Expo Preview Event, 4 - 6 p.m., a casual evening with light snacks, open bar and music, all on the show floor

• The official Traffic Expo opening moves to Monday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m., following the newly formatted General Session

• New exhibit hours on Tuesday, March 4, following a re-vamped Circle of Innovation, kicked-off by a Closing Day Brunch

• Exciting interactive booths in the Activation Area and much more!

All public agency officials are encouraged to apply for a scholarship, however due to the limited number available, priority will be given to one representative per state transportation agency. Additional criteria will also be considered:

  • Active Associate: Public Agency ATSSA members (either Firm or Individual)
  • First time applicants
  • "Key decision makers" for respective agency
  • Active with local ATSSA Chapter
  • Public agency officials that work in traffic safety/safety/work zones
  • Speakers at ATSSA’s 2025 education sessions
  • Public agency officials that are committed to attending all four days of ATSSA’s Convention & Traffic Expo, February 28 – March 4, 2025.

ATSSA also encourages public agency officials at local counties, cities, and municipalities to apply. Although eligible to apply, previous recipients are encouraged to seek reimbursement from their respective agency.

In honor of Marty Weed, The ATSS Foundation is proud to offer two (2) scholarships to newer engineering public agency officials to attend the 2025 Convention & Traffic Expo. To apply and be eligible, applicants must meet ALL the following criteria:

  • Be employed by a public agency (city, county, state, or federal) as an Engineer or P.E. at the time the application is submitted AND
  • Have a MAXIMUM of seven (7) years of work experience AND
  • Specialize or have a strong interest in work zone safety and temporary traffic control.

Please review the requirements and expectations of scholarship recipients:

  • Scholarship recipients are required to participate in all convention activities beginning the morning of Saturday, March 1 (ATSSA technical committee meetings), through 1 p.m., Tuesday, March. 4.
  • Scholarship recipients must participate in educational sessions, Circle of Innovation, and networking activities.
  • After the conference, scholarship recipients are required to submit a conference evaluation.
  • All reimbursements must be submitted to ATSSA no later than 60 days following the conclusion of the conference.

The Scholarship includes:

  • Complimentary convention registration.
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses up to $900 plus four (4) nights lodging at a designated ATSSA hotel (Feb 28 – Mar 4). Travel expenses include:
    • mileage or coach airfare
    • meals (not to exceed daily per diem)
    • taxi or mileage to/from airport

Anyone arriving on Feb. 27 to participate in ATSS Foundation activities on Friday, Feb. 28, will be responsible for the hotel room and tax on the night of Thursday, Feb. 27.

Scholarships are non-transferable without prior written approval from ATSSA.

    All applicants must complete the application via an online form. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

Scholarship applicants will be notified of the decision on or about September 18, 2024.
