Peachtree Corners has constructed smart city technology at an unprotected left turn intersection to provide advance warning to vehicles, pedestrians and other vulnerable road users (VRUs). Learn how the system communicates through the city’s vehicle-to-everything (V2X) infrastructure as well as smart phone app technologies to drivers, transit operators, pedestrians and cyclists. Flashing beacons provide an additional layer of safety in making the most dangerous turn at the intersection while simultaneously being aware of approaching VRUs. The intersection also has two autonomous vehicle lanes outfitted with unique static signage and pavement markings to alert the travelling public on a road that is shared by the entire spectrum of ground transportation facilities and entities.
