Accessing evidence-based resources such as systematic reviews and practice recommendations often requires time-consuming, manual searching of multiple repositories and websites. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) aims to make its evidence repositories more FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable) through an application programming interface (API) called CEPI Evidence Discovery and Retrieval (CEDAR). CEPI is AHRQ’s Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement, which is the home of evidence repositories that support the Evidence-based Practice Centers, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, and CDS Connect. Resources include systematic reviews, preventive services recommendations, clinical decision support artifacts, and others. This panel will present the CEDAR project from the perspectives of AHRQ, the engineering team at MITRE, and the American Academy of Family Physicians, which piloted the CEDAR prototype, and will share generalizable approaches to harmonizing metadata, using standards, and incorporating CEDAR output into products aimed at improving clinical decision-making.
