W02: 2022 CMIO Workshop
SOLD OUT
There are over 2,000 physicians board-certified in clinical informatics and 47 accredited Clinical Informatics Fellowship Programs. There are also many non-board certified/eligible practitioners who need training in state-of-the-art applied clinical informatics. For 11 years the authors and others have presented a Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) workshop at the AMIA symposium and for several years at the AMIA Clinical Informatics Conference (CIC). The 2022 CMIO Workshop will focus on the leadership skills required to successfully transition from one EHR vendor to another. All faculty have led a major EHR transition and will integrate their practical experience with literature reviews and case-based discussions. Through this broad topic, we will address key clinical informatics topics including the banner bar, clinical decision support, conversion of legacy data, order set management, system governance, data analytics, and change management for the staff involved. We will address essential leadership skills including negotiation, change management, building consensus, communication skills, interactions with the C-suite. The structure of the workshop will include didactic and small group exercises in addition to report outs to the larger group. Participants in the workshop will engage each other during the group discussions to practice the concepts and teachings from the didactic sessions.
