Executive Quicksand

May 4, 2025, 3:00 pm - 3:45 pm
Don Harkey

Congratulations, you are an executive! While landing the executive role is a significant accomplishment, many executives find it less than enjoyable. This is because many find that they now have less control over their time, are pulled down into the weeds of many different projects, and are constantly dealing with people problems. This phenomenon, which we refer to as "Executive Quicksand" can detract from strategic leadership, goal execution, and from being the true leader that executives dreamed they would be when they took on the role. In this session, we will explore how executives unintentionally fall into this quicksand and provide strategies for regaining their time and strategic focus. This session is designed to get executives out of the quicksand and back to the leader they need to be!

Objectives:

  • Understand how executives become entangled in day to day issues and lose sight of strategic priorities
  • Learn techniques to reclaim control over your schedule and prioritize strategic initiatives over operational concerns.
  • Gain tools and methods to shift focus back to high impact leadership and long term planning, and enhance your strategic focus

The Truth About Work-Life Balance

May 5, 2025, 8:00 am - 9:15 am
Maria Milagros

It is essential that we create and cultivate ‘balance’ so that we can continue to do the work we enjoy doing while maintaining the joy in our lives. In this talk we’ll uncover the truth around 'work-life balance', learn evidence-based techniques to get the breathing space we so desperately want, the practices to align with our priorities, and begin to develop the mental clarity (read: peace and joy/sanity) we need to move into our days, jobs and relationships without feeling guilty and/or stretched thin. This workshop helps attendees create a more positive mindset shift that promotes growth and improves the quality of life.

Objectives:

  • Encourage attendees to reframe their ideas around 'work-life' balance
  • Educate attendees with evidence-based techniques for intentionally integrating work and life, and for improving the quality of their overall life
  • Empower attendees by giving them the tools to create a tangible plan for putting those techniques into practice
