I have received feedback from vendors in recent years that my selection process is very thorough and in-depth. After working in healthcare for 30 years, this opportunity to choose vendors has occurred many times. The selection process is time-consuming and often there is much at stake. Miscues with Physician Referrals and What To Do About Them
Referrals are received via multiple entry points such as fax, email, phone, website form, EMR order, EMR-to-EMR direct message, referral management software, physician’s friend, physician’s private fax/email/phone/website, and patient self-booking. Additionally, each entry point may have a different workflow to track the progress of a referral, communicate with the referral source and referred patient, and convert into an appointment. All this complexity makes it very hard to consistently provide your referral sources with a smooth handoff, give referred patients a great first impression, speed up referral conversion to reduce referral leakage, and close the referral loop to improve your MIPS score. Not only does this negatively impact your business but it also leads to poor care coordination and fragmented care for patients. But there is no need to despair. Value-Based Approach to MIPS: Improving Your MIPS Score
The Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) score determines future Medicare payment adjustments (both bonuses and penalties) for your practice. Available measures, scoring criteria, and measure rules are complex and ever-evolving. Orthopedic practices have raised concerns that limitations of specialty-specific MIPS measures makes the program burdensome for doctors and discourages practices from even attempting to improve their scores and avoid a penalty. When coupled with effective marketing strategies, it has the potential to propel the growth of an orthopaedic practice. This presentation delves into the latest data and research drawn from over 25,000 patient surveys, alongside insights gleaned from analyzing over 150,000 recorded phone calls from orthopaedic practices nationwide. It offers an insightful exploration of the good, the bad and the ugly that practices encounter every day. This session will also provide great tools and takeaways for practices to leverage immediately with their staff to improve patient experience, while saving money on marketing. Orthopaedic practice administrators find themselves today in changing environments. Most practices are now expanding their service offerings beyond traditional ancillary services to alternate revenue sources, including urgent care, regenerative medicine, dietary support, and many more. New expectations and reimbursement models are demanding higher levels of service and new functions within the organization to support and promote increased volumes. About 10 years ago, Ty Allen was playing a casual game of basketball with some friends when my head collided with the wall behind the hoops. This collision compressed my spinal cord and caused me to develop central cord syndrome. From there, he was thrust into a side of healthcare Ihehad never seen before. Learning to Make Chocolate Pie Made Me a Better Leader

My 83 year old mom is a living legend in my home town for her prowess in the kitchen. She's taught me how to make strawberry jam, how to "put up" corn, and how to make Thanksgiving dressing. Her absolute specialty is chocolate meringue' pie and she taught me everything she knows. As I've made literally hundreds of pies with my mom, and on my own, I've learned that there are a lot of leadership principles in making a good pie.
