Susan Childs, FACMPE and founder of Evolution Healthcare Consulting
There is no such thing as over communicating these days. It is most important that we are able to explain clearly and are completely understood as we make decisions that affect our practice every day. This is an incredibly interactive workshop with tools that really work to improve your Emotional Intelligence (EI) - and can be implemented immediately upon returning to your practice. We begin with a basic introduction to emotional intelligence focusing on individual awareness and relationship management. What are the cues that set us off, and how can we balance dynamics in the most productive and positive way? Real life scenarios (not just the soft stuff) are examined and discussed that offer cited approaches with handling staff, performance issues and affirming your best players. Each attendee is supplied with individual worksheets to mentally work through each situation and enhance their own self-awareness. Pertinent and real life handouts are also furnished to reference upon returning to the office. Tap into your emotional intelligence to affirm your personal leadership as you develop EI in your staff. The workshop promotes a positive approach to practice management and developing one’s EI and communication skills on every level of care with every interaction with patients, staff and physicians.
Learning Objectives:
1) Improve communication skills with listening as well as relating with physicians staff and patients.
2) Become more self-aware as you establish and maintain professional ...and personal relationships.
3) Enhance communication enabling you to hire the best staff… And keep them!
4) Gain added insight with an understanding of body language and mirroring.
5) The ability to assess all current personnel and protocols to reflect empathy throughout your practice.

In the 2022 “State of the Global Workplace” Gallup reports that only 21% of employees are engaged at work and only 33% of employees are thriving in their overall well-being. Most employees would say that they don't find their work meaningful, they don't think their lives are going well or they don't feel hopeful about their future. Global workers report mantras such as: "Living for the weekend," "watching the clock tick," "work is just a paycheck." We can assume that these attitudes also spill over impacting our communities, and our home life. So, what are the 21% of companies doing right that the other 79% of companies are not doing? If we are a leader or business owner, how can we create an environment that is an affirming, validating, empowering place to be? How can we be self-affirming, self-validating, and self-empowering when we find ourselves in an environment that is not supporting those things? How can we be a “positive node” in our workplace, in our community, and at home? Join me to uncover proven strategies that you can use right now be the bright light in your ecosystem that serves to light others up.

What do top managers and leaders do to gain voluntary contributions of discretionary performance, engagement, alignment, ownership and creativity? How do they create accountability for desired results at every level of an organization? How do they ensure that key strategies are not slowly suffocated, but instead produce extraordinary results? They embrace the abundance of ideas, talent, leadership and differentiation that exists in all organizations.
Peak performing teams and cultures understand that leveraging diversity of thought, being open to perspectives of others, open and candid communication, talking about the difficult things to see reality and offering and seeking feedback in a positive forward-looking manner are essential.
Every individual has natural strengths that they can bring to a team. When we embrace this, fundamental teams become stronger, more creative, and perform at higher levels. It is crucial to bring out the best of what every team member has to offer. Teams that are aware of this and integrate these ideas into their culture will position themselves to thrive and excel in the New World or Work.
