Women who have survived trafficking, prostitution, and addiction deserve a second chance at life. Thistle Farms provides a safe and supportive place to live, a meaningful job, and a lifelong sisterhood of support. Their core belief? “Love is the strongest force for change in the world.”
Up to 32 women survivors receive free housing, medical care, therapy, education, and job training through Thistle Farms' two-year residential program based in Nashville, Tennessee. The program's advocacy and referral services benefit hundreds more.
Thistle Farms' social enterprises employ residents and graduates of the residential program.
The women employed through the Body and Home Enterprise make natural products that are good for the earth and the body, including candles, soaps, lotions, and more.
The Cafe At Thistle Farms is a restaurant and special event space in Nashville, serving globally inspired, locally sourced breakfast, lunch, and daily tea service.
The Thistle Farms Global Market uses shared trade practices to increase the profit margin for women at 29 partner organizations in 20 countries.
Last year, customers and donors helped make the following possible:
59 women survivors employed by Thistle Farms, earning over $1m a year in salary and wages
9,215 nights of safe, supportive housing provided to women recovering from life on the streets
14,100 hours of counseling and therapy for survivors, ensuring their physical and mental well-being
40 organizations across the country replicated our housing model, currently offering 185 beds for women seeking sanctuary from the streets
24 shared trade partnerships around the globe, supporting the economic freedom of more than 1,700 women
