School Tours

Rural Wonders

Wednesday, November 8  |  8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Scenic beauty and rural high schools are highlighted on this tour. Casa Grande, or “big house,” is a rural town located approximately 50 miles from downtown Phoenix. The tour will start with a stop at Casa Grande Union High School. This school had plans to eliminate the school library program. Students successfully advocated for the program to be kept open. Hear more about this wonderful story of student advocacy.

Attendees will then visit the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument for a picnic. Then, attendees will head to Vista Grande High School library, a joint-use library with a brand new maker space and a gaming space.

An additional registration fee of $40 is required in advance of the event.

Joint Library and an Architectural Gem

Thursday, November 9  |  8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Betty H. Fairfax High School, located in Laveen, can only be described as an architectural gem. Truly a “WOW” space, this library is central to a school that has won an architectural award. This is a library that shouldn’t be missed.

Hamilton Public High School’s library is operated by the Chandler Public Library. Although programming serves the community of Chandler, this busy joint use library space caters to Hamilton High School students with lots of programming, including a Learning Lab, gaming events, and an Open Mic night.

An additional registration fee of $25 is required in advance of the event.
